Tub-to-Shower Conversion
Tub-to-Shower Conversion Calgary
Turn an underused bathtub into a walk-in shower — proper waterproofing and tile work, on a fixed price and a real timeline.
What's included
A faster, more scoped project than a full gut renovation
Because the plumbing rough-in is usually already in roughly the right place, a tub-to-shower conversion is typically quicker than a full bathroom rebuild — but the waterproofing still has to be done properly.
- Tub removal & disposal
- Shower pan or curbless base
- Waterproof membrane system
- Tile walls & shower floor
- Glass enclosure or shower curtain rod
- Niche shelving
- Fixed-price quote
- Two-year craftsmanship warranty
Why homeowners convert
Why a tub-to-shower conversion makes sense
Most households we talk to have one bathtub in the house they actually use, and every other tub sits empty. Converting an unused tub to a walk-in shower gets you a bigger, more usable shower without touching the rest of the bathroom.
More usable space, same footprint
A shower fills the same floor space a tub occupied, but the interior usable area is larger since there's no tub wall cutting into it.
Curb height is a real decision
A standard curb, a low-profile curb, or a fully curbless entry each have different waterproofing and floor-slope requirements — worth deciding before the quote, not during construction.
Waterproofing is what actually prevents leaks
A tile job looks the same whether or not the membrane underneath was done properly — the difference shows up as a leak into the ceiling below a year or two later. We waterproof every conversion to the same standard as a full renovation.
How it works
Your conversion, step by step
The same four-step process as every Timeless Interiors project, scoped to a tub-to-shower conversion.
Free consultation
We look at your existing tub, plumbing location, and ceiling height below, and talk through curb height and glass options.
Fixed-price quote
You receive an itemized quote within 48 hours covering demo, waterproofing, tile, and glass — the number you sign is the number you pay.
Demo & waterproofing
The tub comes out, the pan or curbless base goes in, and the waterproof membrane is installed before a single tile is set.
Tile, glass & walkthrough
Tile, fixtures, and the glass enclosure go in last, followed by a walkthrough together before we consider it done.
Before your consultation
A few things worth thinking about first
Resale isn't always a reason to keep one tub in the house
Some buyers look for at least one tub, but plenty of Calgary listings sell fine with all showers — if you have more than one bathroom, converting the one you actually use daily is usually the better call.
The ceiling below matters as much as the shower above
If there's finished space below the bathroom, we check the ceiling access and plan the waterproofing and any inspection points accordingly before work starts.
Matching existing tile elsewhere in the home
If the rest of your bathroom is staying as-is, we can often source tile that complements what's already there rather than forcing a full re-tile of walls that don't need it.
Common questions
Tub-to-shower conversion FAQs
Do you offer a curbless (zero-threshold) shower option?
Yes. A curbless entry requires the subfloor to be built down or the surrounding floor built up slightly so water drains correctly — we assess whether your existing floor structure supports this during the free consultation.
Can you convert a tub to a shower without moving the drain?
In most cases yes, since the shower base can be sized to use the existing tub drain location. Moving the drain is sometimes worth it for a better layout, but it adds plumbing work and cost.
How long does a tub-to-shower conversion take?
Most conversions take about 1–2 weeks, faster than a full bathroom renovation since the vanity, toilet, and layout typically stay in place.

More bathroom renovation options
A tub-to-shower conversion is one piece of a larger bathroom renovation — if you're also updating the vanity, tile, or lighting at the same time, it's worth discussing the full scope in one consultation rather than two separate projects.
